What is Encephaloma?

Encephaloma: A Clinical Case Debate is an unprecedented event that will serve as a learning tool for undergraduate students to engage in the simulation of current healthcare issues surrounding challenging brain tumour cases. This event will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM. The event will be held at McMaster University, location room: TBD. Students will collaborate in teams to diagnose challenging brain tumour cases, propose the best relevant combination of co-treatments, and defend their statements through a mock clinical debate. Please bring your laptops for the research!

Primary sources of funding will be obtained from corporate sponsors and revenue from the event registration.

Registration will be available online (a link is available at the top of the page). A team comprised of 3-4 students will take part as one group. The event is absolutely FREE.

Who benefits from Encephaloma?

Undergraduate students who participate in the event will acquire problem solving, public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration skills, constructing a valuable array of tools applicable to their future careers. All proceeds of Encephaloma will be donated towards the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. As well, funds will be donated towards brain cancer research in the form of a scholarship that is currently being built by SABCR. This unique scholarship will fund an undergraduate student position in Dr. Sheila Singh's lab, a leading research group in the field.
